How to Write a Novel in 30 Days

If anyone is interested, The Guardian UK posted 30 days worth of Novel crafting articles on its website in October 2012. These have been excerpted from an edited extract of ‘First Draft in 30 Days‘ (Writer’s Digest Books) by Karen Wiesner, and beautifully illustrated by Jess Wilson – one of which appears here.

The articles are full and rich, giving you enough information to follow the process thoroughly. The Guardian also includes a 22 page worksheet package which is free to use, containing everything from character sketch templates, timeline templates and story evolution scene cards. You will need to sign in to pick the worksheets up, but the site allows for Facebook signon.

She is also the author of the bestselling writing reference book, From First Draft to Finished Novel: A Writer’s Guide to Cohesive Story Building. Her latest title, Writing the Fiction Series, will be published by Writer’s Digest Books in May 2013.
