This is the first of my visual reviews*. My brief text reviews can be found on Amazon, and Goodreads. The Goodreads review is posted after the cut.
*Visual reviews were inspired by Inkygirl, Debbie Ridpath Ohi, who used to do these on her website, as comics.
Note that this book was received free from Story Cartel, in exchange for an unbiased review. However, I also already owned a copy of the book, but had never gotten around to reading it. So this is definitely an unbiased review. Story Cartel offers short promotions of books, available briefly for free in exchange for a review. It also happens to have been founded by Joe Bunting, who also offers a similarly named course for writers.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I really enjoyed reading through the 14 prompts provided in this book. I can certainly see the value of stepping through the exercises within a writing group – which is how the book is intended to be used. Basic and not-so basic exercises and prompts take you out of writing block, stepping by Haikus and Hemingway. Good for new writers, but also for more experienced ones wanting to work on their writing mojo.
